Foreigners collect garbage in Halong Bay

On January 16, 120 international and Vietnamese volunteers collected garbage in fishing villages and the coast of Halong Bay in Quang Ninh Province. This is part of the campaign to protect the environment of the world’s natural heritage.

Volunteers from 25 countries participated in the Week for Halong cruise Bay from January 13 to 19. Before collecting rubbish at fishing villages and the beach on January 16, they had talks on environment with local people.

The group to Vung Vieng fishing village was carried by local people by bamboo boats to pick up rubbish in the bay. Each boat had two volunteers.

Erik Button (blue) participated in the campaign to have the opportunity to visit this world heritage and meet new friends. While waiting for college admission, this British boy who now lives in Italy goes to Vietnam as a volunteer. After this campaign, Button will continue exploration of Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia before returning home.
