On April 27 at My Dinh National Stadium in the capital of Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism and the Quang Ninh PPC co-organized a special ceremony to announce Ha Long Bayai??i??s new status as one of new Seven Wonders of the World.Ai??The event was broadcasted live on VTV1 and VTV4 channel of Vietnam Television.
Vietnamai??i??s Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, Bernard Weber, the Canadian-Swiss president and founder of the Zurich-based New7Wonders Foundation, were among the guests at the official naming ceremony.Ai??Quang Ninh delegation included the Secretary of Quang Ninh Party Committee Pham Minh Chinh, the Chairman of Quang Ninh PPC Nguyen Van Doc and leaders of local departments.
The Founder-President of New7Wonders gave a commemorative plaque to Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Hoang Tuan Anh and Chairman of Quang Ninh PPC Nguyen Van Doc.
The event also has the participation of the other seven natural wonders of the world including the Amazon in South America; Iguazu Falls in Argentina; Jeju Island in the Republic of Korea; Komodo National Park in Indonesia; Puerto Princesa Underground River in the Philippines; and Table Mountain in South Africa.
At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan confirmed that this is a great pride but also big responsibility for Vietnam to preserve Ha Long Bay for the many generations to come.Ai??He also stressed that Quang Ninh provincial authorities and relevant agencies should make more efforts to preserve and bring into full play the natural features of the bay in the near future.Ai??On this occasion, he gave great thanks to thousands of Vietnamese people living in and outside the country and all international friends of Vietnam for enthusiastically voting for Ha Long Bay over the past four years.
